Abstract
Land use zoning policies in California have a dual function of land use control and strategic target decomposition, which guarantees the efficiency of the long-run goals of the general planning and routine administration of land use.This paper delineates the organization,application,evaluation of land use zoning policies and its consistency with land division and land use designation in the general planning,based on General Plan Guidelines of California.It is evident that land use zoning policies in California achieve conversion of macro-scale targets of the general planning into micro-level and routine administration of land use as well as the consistency between land use zoning and division and land use designation,which provides useful reference for the overall land use planning and land administration in our country.
