Abstract
In order to improve the design and the performance of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC),it is necessary to carry out an investigation on the electrical performances of PEMFC stack.A parametric model of a PEMFC stack has been developed with Simulink@MATLAB to evaluate how the major operating variables affect the dynamic output performances and the nonlinear internal resistance of a stack.Dynamic simulations and analyses are performed in MATLAB for the response of the output voltage, the output power, the consumed power and the efficiency of the PEMFC stack, when the output current of a stack is a step change.Comprehensive results of simulation which are in accordance with the experimental data [7] show that this parametric model is operational, effective and is also feasible to study the control of the PEMFC.
