Abstract
Gobiobotis jiangxtensis, sp. uov. (fig. 1)Holotype No. 90 Ⅳ 1256, total body length 50 mm, standard body length 41 mm,collected from Xinjiang River, Shangrao county, Jiangxi Province, in April 1990.Paratypes 4 specimens, No. 90 Ⅴ 1731-1732. 90 Ⅳ 1257 90 IV 1337 (collected from Guangfeng County, Xinjiang River), total body length 46-48 mm, standard body length 37-54 mm, other data same as for holotype.D. iii-7; A. iii-6; P. i-10-12; V. i-6. Lateral line scales 38M 39; predorsal scales 12 ; circumpeduncular scales 12. Inner now of gill rakers on the first gill arch 6-9.Pharyngeal teeth 3. 5-5. 3.Body depth 4. 0-5. 4 in standard body length, length of caudal peduncle 5. 6-7. 7,depth of caudal peduncle 9. 8-12. 3, head length 3. 6-3. 9. Snout length 2. 2-2. 5 in head length, eye diameter 4. 7-5. 5, interorbital width 4. 7-5. 5, length of caudal peduncle 1. 6-1. 8, depth of caudal peduncle 2. 8-3. 3. Depth of caudal peduncle 1. 5-2. 0 in its length. This new species is distinguished from the other species of the genus Gobiobtia by the following charaters: the naked belly-breast extending as far as to its anus; the barbels very short, shorter than or equal to the eye diameter; the pectoral fin without elongated rays, not reaching the origin of the pelvic fin; the anus located in the midway between the pectoral and the anal origin; the pelvic origin closer to the anal origin than to the pectoral origin. All type specimens are kept in the Fresh-water Fish Museum of the institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhhan, Hubei Province.
