Abstract

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid in sequestial treatment of acute bacterial infection. METHODS: A total 113 patients (M 61, F 52; age 39 a± s 16 a) consisted of respiratory tract (66 patients), urinary tract (31 patients) and gastrointestinal tract (16 patients) infection were treated with amoxicillin/clavulanic acid injection 1.2 g, iv, bid or tid for 5 d±3 d, then amoxicillin/clavulanic acid tablet 375 750 mg, po , tid for 7-14 d. RESULTS: The total effective rate of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid was 94%(62/66), 91%(28/31),94%(15/16)respectively. Sensitivity of bacteria was 82%, the becteria logical clearance rate was 86%, the adverse reaction rate was 5%. CONCLUSION: Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid has excellent clinical efficacy in the treatment of acute bacterial infection, little and mild adverse reaction. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid can be the first line antibiotiics in emergency department.
