Abstract

Objective To study the correlation between obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and metabolic syndrome (MS).Methods 86 male patients with OSAHS were divided into three groups according to the degree of the disease,241 normal male adults with AHI5 were recruited as control group. The incidence of MS was compared between two groups. Results There were significant differences between two groups in the following parameters:diastolic, mean arterial blood pressure, waist circumference, hip circumference,WHR and HDL-C(P0.05).Compared with control group, the incidence of MS was significantly higher in OSAHS groups. The worse of OSAHS,the higher incidence of MS.Conclusion OSAHS is closely associated with MS,which is one of the independent risk factors of MS.
