Discussion on the Characteristics of Earthquake Disaster and the Movement Mode of Seismogenic Fault of the Wenchuan M 8.0 Extraordinary Earthquake Occurrence in Sichuan Province

After the Wenchuan M 8.0 extraordinary earthquake occurrence in Sichuan province on May 12 of 2008,we together with the earthquake rescue and relief troops of Jiangsu province arrived at the ravaged disaster area of Beichuan county and carried out rescue and relief.Based on the data of earthquake locale obtained during the rescue and relief,the characteristics of earthquake disaster and the movement mode of seismogenic fault of the Wenchuan earthquake are shown.The seismic intensity of meizoseismal area in the Wenchuan earthquake is up to level XI.The main body of severe disaster area reached levels X-XI are on shown along the Longmenshan active seismic zone in the direction towards northeast.Longmenshan seismic zone is the seismogenic fault of the Wenchuan earthquake and its movement mode is the thrusting and right lateral horizontal slip of the fault.Because of the especial background seismogeology in site,the seismogeologic hazards are very serious and the characteristics of earthquake disaster are fatal.
