Significance of AEEG on diagnosis of epilepisy in children

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the significance of ambulatory EEG (AEEG) in children with epilepsy.Methods AEEG was carried out in 20 children with epilepsy whose regular EEG (REEG) were all normal.Results In 14 of the 20 children,epileptiform discharges were recorded in AEEG,the positive rate was 70%,contrasting sharply with the zero percent of their REEG. All the epileptiform discharges were found in sleep,mostly in NREM.Conclusion AEEG is of important value in diagnosing pediatric epilepsy.
