Abstract
Objective To demonstrate the effect of orthodontic treatment for molar space closing in molar missing or molar extracted patients and its influential factors. Methods Nineteen adults with 11 molar missing and 16 molar extracted were treated by sliding mechanics.Panoramics were taken before and after treatment.Gingival index(GI) and attachment loss(AL) were recorded before treatment and after space closing.Univariate analysis of variance was used in the analysis. Results All space were closed with fine GI.Compared with molar extraction group, molar missing group showed more treatment time and attachment loss.Compared with healthy gingival group, the periodontal group showed less treatment time and more attachment loss. The periodontal condition played the most important role in the orthodontic treatment for molar missing and molar extracted patients. Conclusion Patients with molar missing or molar extracted, even bone loss can be treated successfully through orthodontic treatment and good oral hygiene education.
