Abstract
Objective To make a survey of the influencing factors of hypertension among rural residents and people's knowledge about it,and to provide guidance for health education on hypertension. Methods 400 rural residents were investigated with questionnaire drawn up on the basis of professional knowledge. And their height, weight and blood pressure were measured. Results According to data gathered from 376 effective questionnaires,27.1% of them were with hypertension, among which 31.1% were males and 22.4% were females.Overweight, age, smoking and family history of high blood pressure were all factors that put them at higher risk of hypertension(OR=5.528,3.187,2.372,2.288).59% of the rural residents get knowledge about hypertension from their families and friends, while only 19.9% of them acquired the knowledge from medical staff. Conclusion The morbidity rate of hypertension is rather high among rural residents and they are in urgent need of knowledge about hypertension. Therefore, their awareness of prevention should be enhanced by health education.
