On the Phenomenon of Choking in Athletic Competitions

Abstract

This paper summarizes literature on the phenomenon of choking published in China in recent years. It analyzes the misunderstandings in the relations between choking and pressure, mal-performance in matches and faults, and also discusses the demerits of experimental study of choking, in hope of a tentative probe into the phenomenon of choking in sports competitions.
