Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of inflammatory factors and intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) on hepatic dam- age induced by endotoxin. Methods Wistar rats were randomly divided into 2 groups:①sham operated control(S,n=8);②lipopolysac- charide(LPS n=8).The serum tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α) and IL-6 levels in each group were measured. The immunohistochemistry was used to assess the expression of the ICAM-1 on the hepatic tissue. The pathologic lesions of hepatic tissues were observed. Results The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in serum in LPS group are higher than those in sham operated control group (P0.01).The expression of ICAM- 1 in hepatic tissues were upregulated. The pathologic lesions of hepatic tissues were more serious than those in S group. Conclusion TNF-α and IL-6 in serum and ICAM-1 play an important role in causing of hepatic damage induced by endotoxin.
