Integrated Development and Utilization of Xujiahui Hub of Shanghai Rail Transit and Its Underground Space

As the first growing urban sub-center of Shanghai,Xujiahui district is an important commercial center and traffic hub.The Xujiahui rail transit hub is a large transfer hub that connects three rail transit lines,being the only one in the Shanghai rail transit network.The article illustrates the planning of Xujiahui rail transit hub,in which the station for line No.9 will be regenerated from an existing basement and the station for Line No.11 will be built in a land plot for construction purpose.Both of the two proposed new stations are concealed from the main roads,which well diminishes their impact on the traffic,commerce and environment in the area.This embodies that the planning has take various factors into consideration including construction cost,socio-economic cost and environmental cost to achieve the maximization of social and economic benefits,which is a breakthrough of the design concept and technologies in rail transit planning.Moreover, the article puts forward an integrated planning of underground spaces and passages.
