Abstract
Objective:To study the effect of balloon dilatation therapy on esophageal strictures endoscopy.Methods:Forty patients with esophageal stricture received balloon dilatation therapy under endoscopy.Results:The forty patients with esophageal stricture had 68 times' dilatations.Their food intake capacity increased 2 to 3 grades and the average diameter of the stricture extended from 0.37 cm to 1.45 cm after dilatation.Recent effect was satisfactory.The stricture improved effectively in benign stenosis and the treatment of malignant stenosis needed other therapy after dilatation.No complication occured.Conclusions:The balloon dilatation therapy under endoscopy is an effective and safe option in the treatment of esophageal strictures.
