Abstract

The experimental research was conducted on the seismic behavior of outrigger truss-wall joints,in order to support the design of super high-rise building of Wuhan Center. The strength, stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation capacity were evaluated based on the results of quasi-static cyclic loading tests on two specimens with different joint details. The satisfying seismic behavior of the two joints with different details was verified by the test results.Furthermore, the construction convenience, failure modes and cracking patterns were compared between the two joints. It can be found that the joint with outside steel plate is better than that with encased steel plate with more construction convenience, higher buckling load and less concrete cracks. The strengthened stories of Wuhan Center can be designed based on the test results. Conclusions drawn from this research are useful for the application of outrigger truss-wall joints in super high-rise buildings.
