Abstract

Acanthamoeba keratitis,caused by acanthamoeba protozoa,is a refractory,progressive,sight-threatening corneal disease.It is now recognized that the wearing of contact lenses,exposure to contaminated water and corneal trauma may be associated with acanthamoeba infection.In the past few years,an increase in the number of cases of acanthamoeba keratitis has occurred worldwide due to increasing populations of contact lens users.Now more attention has been paid to the research of acanthamoeba keratitis.Now we reviewed the progress in research of acanthamoeba keratitis.
