Yoshida Kenkō's Idea of Impermanence vs. the Thoughts of I Ching:With a Focus on Passage 91 of Tsurezuregusa

Abstract

Based on the thoughts of I Ching,the idea of impermanence expressed in Passage 91 of Tsurezuregusa(Essays in Idleness) by Yoshida Kenkō is actually an incorporation of the Buddhist idea of Impermanence with Confucianism.The present paper,in comparing Tsurezuregusa with I Ching and its notes,explores how Kenkō absorbs ideas from I Ching and incorporates them into his idea of impermanence.
