The association of MTHFR allele 677C/T polymorphism with stroke patients in China

Abstract

Objective To investigate the association of N5,N10 methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) gene 677C/T polymorphism with stroke in Han nationality people of Yubei District of Henan province.Methods 151 stroke patients and 151 healthy controls were collected,MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism were detected using PCR and RFLP.Hcy level was detected.Results MTHFR gene showed a significant difference in genotype frequencies distribution between the two groups(P0.05);The serum Hcy level in case group was significantly higher than that in control group.Conclusions MTHFR gene polymorphisms maybe associate with stroke.
