On the Happiness of Idyllic Life from the Perspective of Aesthetic Distance——On Wang Ji's "Gazing into the Wildness" and Wang Wei's "A Farm-house on the Wei River"

Through the analysis of Wang Ji's Gazing into the Wildness and Wang Wei's A Farm-house on the Wei River based on the theory of aesthetic distance,we find that aesthetic distance accounts for the praise of rural sceneries and the longing for idyllic life,which reflects the state of being impossible to return or seemingly returning.Usually,the rural sceneries and idyllic life literati praise is something for them to view and admire but not to have.More specifically,when the literati view the rural life in subconscious distance or with super-utility vision,they feel its characterized purity different from official life.However,they cannot bear the tedious and laborious life if they actually live in rural areas.Therefore,it is clear that the happiness and beautiful sceneries in rural areas in literary poems are mostly of Utopian nature.
