Abstract
Objective: To investigate the insight impairment in patients with cognitive impairment and the influencing factors. Methods: Eighty-one patients with cognitive impairment were recruited. The clinical dementia rating(CDR),anosognosia questionnaire-dementia(AQ-D),mini-mental state examination(MMSE),activities of daily living(ADL) and geriatric depression scale(GDS) were used to assess the patients and the scores were analyzed. Results: Insight impairment was documented in 28 patients(34.5%) in this study.Furthermore, extent of insight impairment was associated with the degree of cognition impairment. The score of AQ-Dd correlated with the scores of MMSE,ADL and CDR,but was independent of the sex, age, length of education, and score of GDS.Types of dementia had no influence on the insight impairment. Conclusion: Insight impairment is evident in a part of patients with cognitive impairment. The severity of insight impairment is closely correlated with cognitive ability, action ability and severity of dementia.
