Three Issues about Yuan Jing

Through analyses of multiple references and documents,a conclusion can be made that Yuan Jing,the famous scholar in early Tang dynasty,was born in Henan.This issue has never been brought up before.By comparing the antithesis theory made by Shangguan Yi and Yuan Jing in poetry,it can be easily seen that Yuan Jing was the one who held new ideas in the early Tang dynasty.On the other hand,the so-called theories of Six Antitheses and Eight Antitheses,as supposed to have been held by Shangguan Yi,might have been untrue hearsays of Song people.Yuan Jing invented the metric rules of first word change in poetic rhyming,which offered a solution to the issues of textual connection in the positive and reverse text with the level and oblique tones in the metric form.His theory had brought a most direct,clear influence upon the poetic writing practice and eventually finalized the poem rhyming pattern in Wu Zetian's time period.This is the major and the most important contribution of Yuan Jing.
