Abstract

The Schiff base(L)derived from bisvanillie with o-phenylene-diamine and its rare earth complexes have been synthesized in non-aqueous solution, characterized by elemental analysis,IR,UV,1HNMR,differential thermal analysis(DTA) and molar conductance. The likely formula for the rare earth(Ⅲ) complex maybe suggested as [REL(Pic)(H2O)2](Pic)2·nCH3COCH3(RE= La,Ce,Pr,Nd,n=2;RE=Sm,Eu,n=3),with the central rare earth ions attaining six-coordination.
