Abstract
Objective To explore the expression of cold-inducible RNA binding protein( CIRP) in the newborn rats brain after hypoxic-ischemic brain damage( HIBD). Methods 40 newborn( 7-dayold) SD rats were randomly divided into two groups,the sham operation group and the HIBD group. CIRPmRNA and CIRP expression in the cortex and hippocampus was detected at 6,12,24 and 48 hours after hypoxic-ischemic brain injury by real-time PCR and immuno-histochemistry. Results Cerebral cortex CIRP mRNA and CIRP expression decreased significantly at 6h and 12h after HIBD, which was more significantly at 24h and 48 hours. The CIRP mRNA expression in hippocampus was increased at 6 hours,then decreased at 48 hours. Conclusion CIRP may be involved in the stress reaction and apoptosis after HIBD in newborn rats.
