Discussion on different methods of treating maxillary sinus ostium under nasal endoscopy

Objective To study the influence to the patency of maxillary sinus ostium and function of cilia after treated with different nasal endoscopic surgical operation ofmaxillary sinus ostium. Methods Three hundred patients with type I/II chronic sinusitis and nasal polyp were included.who were with similar bilateral maxillary sinus lesions,and were self matched-paired,made mucosal flap in the insided wall on one side ofthe maxillary sinus ostiums when it's opened naturally,introversed it and then spreaded to middle nasal meatus,opened and expanded the other side,observed the openness and cilia's function at different times after the operation.Results Six months after the operation,the opening rate ofthe maxillary sinus which were made mucosal flaps were 96%,no shutting occurred,and the clearance function ofthe cilia was distinctly better than the other side. Conclusions During the operation ofnasal endoscopy,making mucosal flaps for the diseased maxillary sinus ostium can not only prevent the shutting of· the ostium,but also can save the function ofthe cilia.
