Abstract
Incretin mimetics are a new class of pharmacological agents with multiple antihyperglycemic actions, which has mimic actions of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide GLP-1,while,Dipeptidyl peptidase(DPP-Ⅳ) inhibitors suppress the degradation of GLP-1.The mechanism of these two agents includes the enhancement of glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppression of inappropriately elevated glucagon secretion, enhancement of insulin sensitivity, slowing of gastric emptying and inhibition of appetite.Study demonstrates that incretin mimetics and DPP-Ⅳ inhibitors can promote neogenesis of β-cell and will be a new drug for treatment of T2DM in future. At present, several incretin mimetics and DPP-Ⅳ inhibitors are undergoing late-stage clinical trials for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
