Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of non-invasive isolated fungal sphenoid sinus. Methods A retrospective study was made on 11 cases proved histopathology of fungal sphenoid sinus to discuss the clinical manifestation, signs, computed tomography and the result of surgery. Results All of the patients were treated by nasal endoscopic sinus surgery. The epithelium of cavity had grown gradually after 6-8 weeks. All clinical symptoms were disappeared and followed up for 6 mongths. No recurrence was occurred. Conclusion The non-invasive isolated fungal sphenoid sinus was difficult to be diagnosed because of its non-specific symptoms and the special nature of anatomical location of the sphenoid sinus. It could provide more accurate information by enhancing the understanding of the disease and reading sinus CT.It was more effective and safer by using the positioning technology of nasal endoscopic sinus to improve the treatment of sphenoid sinus disease.
