Research on incentive system in the control of diesel fuel cost of the use of diesel locomotive

Diesel fuel consumption cost of diesel locomotives in railway system takes up a considerable portion of railway operating cost. The management of energy consumption of locomotive is the key to control the cost of the use of the diesel locomotives. To cut diesel fuel cost is an effective measure to decrease total operating cost of railway transportation and also a main way to improve the economic benefits of railway enterprise. By analyzing the structure of diesel locomotive operation cost and its influencing factors, this paper points out that, under certain locomotive characters and driving conditions, the driver's operating skill and spiritual conditions are major factors influencing the fuel consumption. Thus this paper sets up an incentive system based on the cost control of diesel fuel consumption of diesel locomotives according to the incentive theory, and then emphatically puts forward some advices to the locomotive department on the efficient use of incentive system to encourage the locomotive drivers to save fuel.
