Abstract

Objective:To observe the changes of somatostatin (SS) neurons in Alzheimer's (AD) disease rats model induced by D-galactose and ibotenic acid(IBO). Methods:Rats AD model were induced by D-galactose and lesion of basal Meynert nucleus with IBO. Numbers and average area of Hippocampal SS neurons were detected with immunohistochemistry ABC technique and immage analysis. Results:Compared with control rats, numbers of SS neurons in model group were significantly decreased (P0.01);grey value of model group was increased (P0.01), suggesting SS content decreased significantly. Average area of SS neurons between model rats and control rats had no significant difference. Conclusion:Hippocampal SS neurons decline obviously in AD model induced by D-galactose and lesion of basal Meynert nucleus with IBO.
