Abstract
Wastewater containing nitrobenzene was treated by electrochemical reduction on cathode; graphite or copper cathode was used. Meanwhile, UV spectrums of reductive products and electrochemical reduction characteristics were investigated. The results indicated that direct reduction of nitrobenzene took place on copper cathode, i.e. the typical catalyzed iron inner-electrolysis characteristics. Nitrobenzene was reduced into aniline before the further degradation.
