Abstract

MOOC( Massively Open Online Course) provides students a new channel to acquire knowledge and a new pattern to learn. It becomes popular learning method in internet times and brings big impact to college education. This paper introduces the development of MOOC and presents MOOC history and characters of the most major MOOC organizations—Coursera,Udacity and EdX. The paper also summaries the development of MOOC in China and the opportunity and challenge to traditional education,and also gives some suggestion to colleges on opening online courses.
