Effect of mesalazine on serum interleukin-6,interleukin-8 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in patients with ulcerative colitis

Objective To explore the effect of mesalazine on serum interleukin(IL)-6,IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α) in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods Forty patients with active state UC in observation group were treated with mesalazine delayed release granula,and 30 healthy volunteers were chosen as the control group.The therapeutic efficacy was observed in the observation group,and the levels of serum IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α were compared between the two groups.Results After 6 weeks of treatment,the total effective rate in the observation group was 90.0%(36/40),and the rate of adverse reactions was 2.5%(1/40).The levels of serum IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in observation group before treatment were significantly higher than those in control group(P0.01).The levels of serum IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in observation group after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment(P0.01).Conclusion The levels of IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in patients with UC increased significantly,and mesalazine can reduce the levels of them.Mesalazine can obtain good efficacy with good security in the treatment of patients with UC.
