Stereotactic mammography aspiration biopsy in the diagnosis of breast cancer

Objectives To evaluate the clinical significance of stereotactic mammography aspiration biopsy(SMAB) for diagnosing breast cancer.Methods Under the guidance of computer stereotactic equipment,the biopsy needle was introduced into the lesion in question which was impalpable but recognizable roentgenologically.Aspiration biopsy was done,and put under histological examination in 27 patients with suspicious breast lesions.Results The diagnostic concordance rate was 92.6%.Conclusions The technic described is valuable in the diagnosis of small impalpable lesions that visualized on mammography.
