Abstract

Objective: To study antimicrobial activity against SA,MRSA and ESBLs by Musa basjoo rhizome and flower.Method: Disc diffusion method was applied to determine the MIC value.Result: MIC in the petroleum ether extracts of the rhizome against SA,MRSA and ESBLs was 31.25 μg.disc-1.MIC in n-BuOH extract against MRSA and ESBLs was 250 μg.disc-1.MIC in the petroleum ether extracts of the flower against SA,MRSA and ESBLs was 125 μg.disc-1.The order of antimicrobial activity was petroleum ether extracts of rhizome petroleum ether extracts of flower n-BuOH extract of rhizome.Conclusion: Petroleum ether extracts of rhizome and flower were active fraction.
