Abstract

Ce 2Co 17- x M x (M=Ga, Al and Si) compounds were prepared by arc melting. The influence of non magnetic substitution atoms, such as Ga, Al and Si, on Curie temperature and spontaneous magnetisation of these compounds were studied by means of X ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The experimental results reveal that Si has a minimal solid solubility in Ce 2Co 17 , and makes a strongest reduce of Curie temperature and spontaneous magnetisation comparing with Ga and Si.
