ON the Idea of Modernization and of Its Two Dimensions

The first part of the paper clarifies the meaning of the idea from three respects such as the transforming of civilization formation, of social formation and resources utilized formation. The second part of the paper analyses two dimensions of modernization: accomplished fact and plans for future. It points out that researches on modernization should primarily forcus on historical research. And then it expounds that the developmental process of modernization in the developing countries always characterizes that of the plans for future by countries and individuals, and it illustates the importance of evaluation, methods, contents and results of the plans. Finally, it stresses that modernization and history of modernization in the orient don't take place naturally, it might be a man made construction with complex process.
