Abstract
There were many Jian businessmen in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, distributed in the developed or undeveloped areas of the west and southwest of China. They gave up farming for business and sold the traditional commodities such as paper to sustain their families. Their profits were used for the consumption investment.The Jian businessmen's activities promoted the economic development of the west areas and strengthened the economic basis and social basis of the traditional feudal society.
