Abstract
The synthesis of isoamyl butyrate with butyric acid and isoamyl glycol as reactants and chitosan sulfate as catalyst was studied. The influence factors were investigated by experiments arranged by orthogonal design. The results showed that the optimum conditions were as follows:the mole ratio of isoamyl glycol to butyric acid was 2.0 ∶1,the amount of catalyst was 1.5% of the mass of mixture charge in the reaction, cyclohexane was suitable water-carrying agent which the optimum use level was 15 mL and the reaction time was 60 min.The esterification yield of isoamyl butyrate could reach 98.4%,and the catalyst could achieve repetitive use.
