Abstract
Objective To analyze the impact on the iodine nutrition among children and pregnant women after adjusting the iodine content in iodine salt. Methods The status of iodine nutrition under the level of iodine in salt of 20-50mg/kg in 2011 and 21-39mg/kg in 2014 was analyzed. Results A total of 120 and 150samples of iodized salt were tested among households in 2011 and 2014respectively,the median was 29.3mg/kg and 26.3mg/kg.A total of 636 and 150children's urine samples were tested, the median of urine iodine was 339.0μg/L and 276.5μg/L respectively. The ratio of the children's urine iodine less than 100μg/L accounted for 5.03% and 1.33%,and those more than 300μg/L accounted for62.40% and 36.70%.The total goiter rate of the children measured with ultrasound B was 4.17%(120)and 0.00%(150).A total of 45 and 60pregnant women's urine samples were tested, the median urine iodine was 269.2μg/L and218.6μg/L,the ratio of urine iodine less than 150μg/L accounted for 20.00%and 25.00%,and those more than 500μg/L accounted for 2.22% and 3.33%. Conclusion After iodine adjustment, the total goiter rate of the children, the median of the children and pregnant women's urine iodine dropped significantly. The iodine nutrition level among the children is no more over-excessive,but still more than the appropriate level. And the iodine nutrition is suitable for pregnant women in Changde city. The risks of excess and shortage of iodine nutrition level coexist in the population at the same time.
