Abstract

Eight steel reinforced concrete(SRC) columns were tested under cyclic loading to investigate the effect of stirrup configurations on the seismic performance of SRC columns. The main test parameters are stirrup configuration, stirrup ratio and shear span ratio of model columns. The effects of the parameters on the strength, ductility, hysteretic behavior and energy dissipation capacity of SRC columns are discussed based on test results. It is indicated that the deformation capacity of the model columns increased with the increase of stirrup ratio and shear span ratio. The strength deterioration is improved with the increase of stirrup ratio.Stirrup ratio has no obvious effect to the stiffness deterioration of specimens. The seismic performance of the specimens with octagonal overlapping stirrup is better than that with four-leg stirrups. The ultimate carrying capacity and deformation capacity can be improved when additive triangular stirrup is setup to the specimen with rectangular stirrup.
