The formation of granulite and its contribution to evolution of the continental crust

Zhai Ming

Open publisher page 27 citations

Abstract

The granulite is one of the most important rocks in the earth. Its formation was controlled mainly by the condition of terrestrial heat. Their main formation models are related to continental collision, continental extension and continental arc. In some extent, granulite is the synonym of the lower continental crust. By research of granulite terranes and granulite xenoliths in volcanic rocks, composing and structure of deep substance in the earth could be realized directly. Research of granulite is a key point to understand formation and evolution of continental crust.
