Abstract

Objective To investigate the pathological features of the triple negative breast cancer with basal cell-like type( BCLT). Methods The expression of immune makers of 56 cases of the triple negative breast cancer in the affiliated suqian hospital of xuzhou medical college from January 2010 to January 2013 were detected by immunohistochemistry, including Ki67,p53,EGFR,CK5 /6,CK17 and CK14. Pathological features of the triple negative breast cancer with BCLT and non-BCLT were compared. Results Among 56 patients,36 cases were with BCLT( 36 /56,64. 29%),20 cases were not with BCLT( 20 /56,35. 71%). There were significant differences in age, proportion of postmenopausal, rate of lymph node metastasis, stage of disease and cell differentiation between patients with BCLT and non-BCLT( P 0. 05). The expression rates of p53 and Ki67 in the triple negative breast cancer with BCLT were 91. 67 %( 33 /36) and 97. 22 %( 35 /36) respectively, while those in the triple negative breast cancer with non-BCLT were respectively 65. 00 %( 13 /20) and 75. 00 %( 15/20). There were significant differences. Conclusions Patients of the triple negative breast cancer with BCLT are relatively younger, higher proportion of postmenopausal, higher rate of lymph node metastasis, later stage of disease, poorer cell differentiation, higher malignancy and poorer prognosis than those of the triple negative breast cancer with non-BCLT. The efficacy on Patients of the triple negative breast cancer with BCLT by gene therapy needs further study.
