Abstract
The secondary highway is an important part of China's highway system. According to the field survey,and based on the traffic flow characteristics on the secondary highway,this paper evaluated the secondary highway safety with the method of 85th operational velocity difference. Considering the complexity of the secondary highway's trafficcomposition,the parameters were calibrated combined with the data of field survey. This paper used simulation technology to set up the real traffic flow in the road network,and outputted the evaluation data. This method is different to the 《Guidelines of Safety Evaluation of Highway Item》proposed. The results indicated that this method was simple to use and of great precision.
