Abstract

Placenta is the special product between the mother and the fetus and a vital organ to maintain fetal development in intrauterine nutrition. The decline in placental function can impact the fetal and lead to a variety of adverse pregnancy outcome.Pregnancy-associated liver disease including ICP(Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy),HELLP(hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets syndromecan) and pregnancy complicated with hepatitis can cause a series of the physiological or pathological changes in placenta. This article would give the summary on its physiological and pathological mechanisms.
