Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapy efficacy of video-assisted thoracic surgery for spontaneous pneumothorax. Methods Fifty cases of spontaneous pneumothorax were divided into two groups:observation group and control group. The control group was treated by thoracic surgery and the observation group was treated by video-assisted thoracic surgery. Results The operations of both groups were successful and all patients were recovered without sequelae, with satisfactory lung recruitment and no operative mortality. However, the observation group was superior to the control group in the blood loss, operative time, postoperative chest drainage, chest tube drainage time and hospital stay, ant there was no significant difference in the adverse reaction rate between the two groups(P0.05).Both groups showed no significant change of the liver function,no serious complications and no deaths. Conclusion Video-assisted thoracic surgery for spontaneous pneumothorax is safe and reliable, showing better clinical value.
