The role of clinical assessment ultrasonography in medical abortion practice

Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasonogphy in medical abortion practice.Methods 127 cases of medical abortion which had not been contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy were observed.Results 1 After using ultrasonogaphy to examine 127cases the following was found: 120cases of entopic pregnancy, 3 cases of pseudocyesis, 2 cases of early pregnancy including uterine leiomyomas, 1 case of tubal pregnancy,1 case of hydatidiform mole. 2: After performing medical abortion, the using of ultrasonography , yielded 108 cases of complete abortion, 10 cases of incomplete abortion, 2 cases of medical abortion failure.Conclusions Ultrasonography is an effect and safe way of monitoring medical abortion. It should be adapted in common practice.
