Abstract
This paper mainly discusses the importance of diction in English-Chinese translating from the following five aspects:the complexity of meaning,markedness,figures of speech,logic,and differences between cultures.At the same time,it discusses,with Jiang Hongshao,some questions in Some Translation Mistakes in the book Differences Between English and Chinese in Translation in No.2 March 1998,Chinese Translators Journal.
