Abstract
Objective To study the incidence of isolated coronary artery ectasia, its clinical and angiographic characteristics, and its prognosis. Methods Retrospective studies were conducted in the 2 863 patients underwent coronary angiography from February 1998 to June 2004 in the First Hospital of Harbin Medical University. Results The rate of isolated coronary artery ectasia was 0.698%(20/2863). Most patients with isolated coronary artery ectasia were men (85%), smokers (90%). It showed that diabetes was the only variable independently related with the absence of isolated coronary artery ectasia. Conclusion Isolated coronary artery ectasia is unusual in the patients underwent coronary angiography and associated with the traditional risk factors, except diabetes. Isolated coronary artery ectasia is not benign and must be carefully monitored.[
