Abstract
In western Hunan there are some incredible diet taboos, such as: carp taboos of the FUs ( Fu--a surname), rice field eel taboo of the people in Chongshan, chicken taboo in Luxi, etc. These taboosare just a form of totem worship. The article probes into the relationship between these taboos and worship, and the cause of the development of totem worship.
