Abstract

Objective To explore the therapeutic approach to craniopharyngioma with microsurgery and evaluate its effects. Methods After the analysis of pre-operational clinical manifestations and imaging examinations,46 patients with craniopharyngioma were operated on with microsurgery through subfrontal approach or pterion approach. Results The symptoms and the signs in 18 patients who underwent total resection and in 28 ones who underwent subtotal resection, were improved to different degrees. No patients died. Conclusion Treating craniopharyngioma with microsurgery improves total removal rate and tumor wall total resection rate, ameliorates patient's sight and endocrine function, and cuts down the various relative complications.Craniopharyngioma should be completely resected in the first operation.
