Abstract
The effects of current waveform and current density on the deposition rate, appearance, microhardness and surface morphology of Fe coating electroplated from a stable bath containing FeCl2 400 g/L,ascorbic acid 3.2 g/L,glycine 2 g/L and fluoroboric acid 6.4 mL/L on steel substrate were studied. Single pulse current is the most suitable waveform for repairing parts. The Fe coating prepared with single pulse current at pulse on-time 0.1 ms,period 1 ms,working time 100 ms,intermittent time 900 ms and average current density 5.5 A/dm2 features fine microcrystalline structure with irregular micro-cracks,microhardness 679 HV,and similar deposition rate as the Fe coating prepared with direct current.
