Abstract
Objective:To study the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(INOS) and endothelin(ET) after spinal cord inju-ry in rats.Methods:36 adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal, mild(moderate) and severe injury groups. The rats were killed at 14 days after spinal cord injury.Expression of INOS and ET was determined with S-P immunohistochemical methods. Results:There were no INOS and ET expression in cells of normal group.14 days after spinal cord injury, the INOS(ET) levels in mild(moderate) and severe groups were 14.8%(11.1%) and 59.3%(51.9%),respectively;there were significant difference(P=0.004;P=0.013).Conclu-sions:INOS and ET take part in the process of rats' spinal cord injury. The expression of INOS and ET showed increased tendency with the spinal cord injury degree.
